This paper investigates the scalability of a single-gateway LoRa network in IoT applications. The impact of interference on a LoRa network resulted from simultaneous transmissions using the same spreading factors (co-SF) as well as different SFs (inter-SF) interference. The interference field has been modeled as the Poisson point process. The proposed method considers the Success Probabilities and device Density (SPD) in each area in defining boundaries of SF regions. Simulation results have shown that in the proposed SPD method, network performance under co-SF and inter-SF interference in terms of success probability has improved 12.69% over compared SIR-based EIB method. Also, the coverage probability of the SPD and EIB methods is compared, and it was concluded that the coverage probability of EIB drops more than SPD as the number of end devices increases.
